Dance Studies at University of Michigan Press

Our dance list seeks titles that answer the question: How does dance enact and speak back to politics? By politics, I mean the politics of the everyday—how people move through the world, think of themselves in relation to those around them, and negotiate those relationships. Our flagship series in this area, Studies in Dance, published in collaboration with the Dance Studies Association, seeks work that answers this question by using new methods of historical inquiry, multiple theoretical perspectives, or by thinking of dance in a global context.
