Howard Rambsy II talks digital humanities on Left of Black

Howard Rambsy II, author of Black Arts Enterprise and the Production of African American Poetry joined host Mark Anthony Neal on the season premier of Left of Black to discuss the place of black studies as the concept of "digital humanities" becomes more prevalent.

Rambsy spoke about the disconnect between the progress of networked digital publishing and black studies. On the subject of improving this relationship, Rambsy commented that "one big asset has just been doing more collaboration." He went on to say that, "we know we have this blog, we know we have this thing we do on Twitter, so what are some of the things that we can do to really build on what we've already been doing, to expand and to connect folks."

Rambsy also discussed his current work in the Black Arts Movement, studying how various black writers (a novelist, a comic strip writer, a blogger and a poet), have "influenced these conversations about race, and also how they use technology to really get their message out there."
