Music Studies at University of Michigan Press

Our music list seeks titles that answer the question: How does music enact and speak back to politics? By politics, I mean the politics of the everyday–how people move through the world, think of themselves in relation to those around them, and negotiate those relationships. Our three flagship series in this area, Tracking Pop, Music and Social Justice, and  Musics in Motion, seek work that answers this question through the lenses of popular music studies, music and social justice, and the music of migration and diasporas.
