Congratulations to John Dillery on being shortlisted for the 2016 Runciman Award!
We are very pleased to announce that John Dillery’s volume Clio’s Other Sons: Berossus and Manetho has been shortlisted for the highly competitive Runciman Award, offered annually by the Anglo-Hellenic League for the best book on Greece and Hellenic culture.
"This year the prize attracted an exceptional field of books on a wide range of topics from the ancient past to our own times," said judges chairperson Tom Harrison. "We are delighted that the subject of Greece and Greek culture is giving rise to so much original and lively writing. The strength of our short list presents us with a tough challenge when we meet to decide on the winner in June."
John Dillery received his PhD in Classical Studies from the University of Michigan in 1989, and since then has published a volume on the Greek historian Xenophon with Routledge and a new edition of Xenophon’s Anabasis in the Loeb Classical Library series. He is Professor of Classical Studies at the University of Virginia.
