2008 University of Michigan Press Book Award Winners Announced

This year proved to be a very good year for Michigan faculty-produced publishing. The book committee was unable to select one winner, deciding instead that two books (three, really, when you consider that one of the winners won for a two volume publication), deserved to be honored.

Chun-shu Chang and Rudi Paul Lindner have both been selected as this year's winners of the University of Michigan Press Book Award.

Chang was selected for his two volumes of The Rise of the Chinese Empire (The Rise of the Chinese Empire: Nation, State, and Imperialism in Early China, ca. 1600 B. C.-A. D. 8, Volume 1 and The Rise of the Chinese Empire: Frontier, Immigration, and Empire in Han China, 130 B. C.-A. D. 157, Volume 2).

Lindner was selected for his work Explorations in Ottoman Prehistory.

The Press Book Award is given to the best work published by the University Press in the prior two calendar years and written by a member, or members, of the University of Michigan faculty.
